‘Don’t bring shame on Ndi Igbo’ — J Martins calls on Peter, Paul Okoye to settle rift

J Martins, the Nigerian singer, has called on Peter and Paul Okoye, the twin brothers and former music duo Psquare, to resolve their dispute.

Martins’ plea comes barely hours after Peter announced that he had officially changed his birthday.

Peter, also known as Mr P, declared that he will now celebrate his birthday on November 30 — abandoning November 18, the date he has shared for decades with his twin brother Paul.

Reacting to the announcement in a post on X, Martins described the singers as “my brothers,” while questioning Peter’s decision to abruptly change his birthday.

He also urged the brothers to try and resolve their differences while keeping it away from public scrutiny.

“These are my brothers for more two decades, I still don’t understand why one will just wake up decades to change his own birthday separate from his twin brother?” he wrote.

“@PeterPsquare @rudeboypsquare can we fix these stuff inside our house & not bring this shame on Ndi Igbo nke anyi.”

In the last few years, the Okoye brothers have been in the news following the breakup of their music group Psquare.

They first parted ways in 2017 after a disagreement on the role of Jude Okoye, their older brother, as manager.

In November 2021, they ended their five-year feud and held their first headline concert in December.

However, in 2024, Paul confirmed that the group had split again. He alleged that Peter was involved in his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Peter later raised concerns about alleged irregularities in their former management, leading to renewed public exchanges and legal disputes within the family.
