Joseph, popularly known as Hasken Southern Kaduna, announced his decision in a statement dated April 20, 2026, saying it followed consultations with family members, political associates, community leaders, and supporters across the district.
He said stepping down in favour of Katung was driven by patriotism, political maturity, and the need to sustain unity within the APC in Southern Kaduna.
According to him, his long-standing relationship with the senator, which spans over three decades, influenced his decision.
“I have decided to step down from my aspiration under the platform of the APC and throw my full support behind the incumbent Distinguished Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung, in his quest for a second term,” he said.
Joseph added that the move is also aimed at consolidating ongoing development efforts under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.
He cited projects such as the proposed Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, among other interventions, as reasons for supporting continuity.
The APC stalwart expressed appreciation to his supporters across Southern Kaduna for their loyalty and encouragement, assuring them of his continued commitment.
He urged his followers to align with his decision by supporting Katung’s second-term bid to ensure sustained representation and development of the district.
Joseph reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and pledged to continue his humanitarian and philanthropic activities across Southern Kaduna.
