Bwala Attacks Obi’s Party History, Questions Political Loyalty

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel H. Bwala, has sharply criticised former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, accusing him of inconsistent party loyalty and “nomadic politics.”

In a post on X on Tuesday, Bwala took Obi to task over his history of switching political parties and declared the day “World Shame Day” for the former Labour Party presidential candidate and his supporters, known as Obidients.

Bwala’s criticism followed Obi’s recent Arise Television interview, where he was questioned about moving from APGA to PDP and later to the Labour Party for the 2023 presidential election.

He also referenced speculation about Obi’s possible future alignments. The presidential aide argued that Obi’s explanation leaving parties due to internal challenges shows a lack of commitment and questions his suitability for national leadership.

“Imagine the character that said he wants to govern Nigeria?” Bwala wrote.Obi, who governed Anambra from 2006 to 2014, became a major force in the 2023 election under the Labour Party, winning strong youth support with his focus on governance reform, accountability, and economic discipline.

He is currently linked with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).Obi has previously defended his party movements, saying they were driven by internal crises and the need to work with platforms aligned with his principles.

The exchange shows the ongoing tension between the Tinubu administration and opposition figures amid continued debate on party loyalty and political realignment in Nigeria.
