A faction of Boko Haram, Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), has released a video showing 416 abducted residents of Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, claiming they are alive, healthy, and well-treated.
The six-minute video, obtained by Daily Post, shows the captives, mostly women and children, along with a few men as members of the group speak with them. A terrorist spokesman said the footage was produced at the request of the Borno South Youths Alliance (BOSYA), which has been acting as a mediator since the abduction.
The group used the video to reassure the public that the hostages are safe in their custody.BOSYA has confirmed the abduction of 416 people and appealed to the Nigerian government, international partners, and global leaders to intervene urgently for the safe release of the victims.
The attack occurred on March 4, 2026, when insurgents stormed Ngoshe community and took hundreds of residents hostage.
This development comes amid continued insecurity in parts of Borno State, where Boko Haram and its splinter groups remain active despite military operations against them.
