Bayo Adelabu, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, is set to resign from his position in the coming days to pursue the Oyo State governorship in the 2027 general elections.
According to Tunji Bolaji, the minister’s Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Adelabu personally informed President Bola Tinubu of his decision during a meeting on Tuesday, where the President gave his blessing and full support.
Adelabu’s planned resignation marks a significant political move as he throws his hat into the ring for the Oyo State governorship race, returning to state-level politics after serving in the federal cabinet.
The development is expected to trigger a major cabinet reshuffle in the Power Ministry in the coming weeks.
