A group of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders and supporters in Bauchi State has mobilised ₦50 million to purchase the party’s governorship nomination form for Senator Shehu Buba Umar, signalling strong backing for his ambition to contest the 2027 governorship election.
The funds were raised by the Contact and Mobilization Committee for Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s 2027 Governorship Ambition. Members described the contribution as a collective effort by the senator’s associates, political allies, and loyal APC members to advance his aspiration.
Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, has already purchased the APC governorship expression of interest and nomination forms. He formally declared his intention to run for governor earlier this month, citing wide consultations and calls from across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Chairman of the Contact and Mobilization Committee, Muhammad Abubakar Sade, and Secretary Barrister Mukhtar Abubakar said the stakeholders unanimously resolved to present Senator Buba as a credible, competent, and people-oriented aspirant capable of leading the state.
The group expressed confidence that Senator Buba has the electoral strength and momentum to help the APC reclaim Bauchi State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027. They described the fundraising as a crowdfunding initiative that demonstrates grassroots support for his candidacy.
Senator Buba, while purchasing the forms in Abuja, reaffirmed his commitment to the race and voiced optimism that the APC would regain power in the state through fresh leadership focused on accelerated social and economic development.
This development adds momentum to the emerging race for Bauchi’s 2027 governorship, with Senator Buba positioning himself as a strong contender within the APC.
