Abia State government has alleged that some opposition politicians in the state are planning to bring in miscreants from neighboring states to stage a violent protest tagged ‘Tinubu Dey Work, Otti Dey Chop’.
According to the state government, sponsors of the planned protest intend to incite a bloody clash between the protesters and security agents.
The alarm was raised by the Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, on Friday.
He accused the opposition of plotting to create an atmosphere that could lead to breakdown of law and order, with a view of making the state ungovernable ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Intelligence available to Abia State government has confirmed plans by some political actors in Abia to sponsor some miscreants from Aba and neighboring states to embark on a protest tagged ‘Tinubu Dey Work, Otti Dey Chop’.
“It is important to remind those involved in this plot that the Abia State government has the will and the capacity to ensure that they pay a heavy price beyond their imagination,” Ekeoma stated.
But in a swift reaction, the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said it is not aware, or involved in any planned protest.
The party which spoke through its Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, said that APC is a responsible and law-abiding party that does not engage in actions capable of undermining the security and well-being of citizens.
“It is not far-fetched to consider that the present alarm raised by the Abia State government may itself be part of a staged narrative designed to manufacture a crisis, shift blame to the opposition and ultimately distract from legitimate public scrutiny over governance issues,” the APC publicity secretary said.
