In a significant political development in Zamfara State, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Jamil Jibo Magayaki, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Magayaki announced his resignation from the PDP and his formal switch to the ruling APC via a statement shared on his social media platforms.
He cited the prevailing political realities in Zamfara State as the key reason for his move, emphasizing the need to align with a party better equipped to tackle pressing issues.
In his statement, Dr. Magayaki said: “I, Dr. Jamil Jibo Magayaki, the Zamfara State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), hereby announce my formal defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
My decision to join the APC is based on the current political reality in Zamfara State, which demands alignment with a platform better positioned to address the challenges of security, development and governance for the benefit of our people.”
This defection comes shortly after Governor Dauda Lawal also left the PDP to join the APC, signaling a wave of major political shifts in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The moves are seen as part of broader realignments in Zamfara's political landscape, where security concerns, development needs, and governance effectiveness remain top priorities for residents.
