Iran's top security official has firmly rejected any negotiations with the United States, accusing President Donald Trump of igniting the current regional crisis.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and a former close advisor to the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, dismissed recent media reports suggesting Tehran had reached out through intermediaries to restart talks with Washington.
Iran will not negotiate with the US, Larijani declared, emphasizing that Iranian forces "did not start the invasion."
He directly blamed Trump for the escalation, stating that the US president has "caused chaos in the region with his 'false hopes' and is now worried about additional American soldier casualties.
Larijani further criticized Trump for shifting his "America First" slogan to what he called "Israel First," claiming the US is prepared to deploy troops in support of Israel's regional ambitions.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions following a joint US-Israeli military operation over the weekend that killed Khamenei, along with family members and other senior figures, including top advisor Ali Shamkhani and Revolutionary Guards head General Mohammad Pakpour.
The strikes marked a dramatic escalation after failed nuclear negotiations in Geneva last week, where Iran reportedly balked at US demands.
Larijani's remarks refute claims.amplified by some US sources and even comments from Trump that Iran's new interim leadership might be open to dialogue following the losses.
Instead, he portrayed Iran's stance as defensive in response to what Tehran views as unprovoked aggression initiated under Trump's leadership.
The refusal signals continued confrontation in an already volatile Middle East conflict involving the US, Israel, Iran, and allied groups like Hezbollah.
