The management of the University of Jos has postponed all examinations scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, following late evening fatal attacks by unknown gunmen on residents of Angwan Rukuba, an area that hosts many staff and students of the institution.
In a security advisory signed by Deputy Registrar of Information and Public Relations Emmanuel Madugu, on behalf of the Registrar, the Vice Chancellor directed the rescheduling of the affected exams.
The statement noted that the attacks have generated tensions in and around the area and environs.
It is ready that “University community members have been strongly advised to be very vigilant and extra careful with their movements both on and off campus with immediate effect.
They are urged to avoid coming out very early in the morning and to report immediately any sign or shadow of breach of the public peace to the University Security Division.
The management said it is actively liaising with relevant security agencies and closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the lives of members of the university community.
