UCL: Arsenal cruise into quarter-final as PSG maul Chelsea

Arsenal scored once in each half to subdue Bayer Leverkusen and claim a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie on Tuesday.

The Gunners are one of the favourites for the UCL title this season, and they sailed through thanks to Eberechi Eze’s brilliant effort that broke Leverkusen’s resolve, and Declan Rice’s clincher.

Ben White and Edmond Tapsoba had exchanged chances before Eze delivered a bullet shot into the top corner on the half volley to put Mikel Arteta’s side ahead at halftime.

Rice sealed the win on 64 minutes with a composed finish from just outside the area into the bottom corner for his first UCL goal of the season, and the 2-0 win.

The Gunners knocked out a German team in Europe for the first time in six attempts, and Arteta’s side are in the quarter-final stage for the third consecutive season. They will face Sporting Lisbon, who overcame Bodo/Glimt’s three-goal first leg advantage with a 5-0 drubbing in Portugal.

Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain, UCL champions, defeated Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to win both legs 8-2 on aggregate. Kvicha Kvaratsklelia, Bradley Barcola, and Senny Mayulu are the goalscorers.

Real Madrid completed the teams to advance into the last eight on the night, following a 2-1 second-leg win against ten-man Manchester City, for a 5-1 aggregate scoreline. It is the second consecutive season the Galacticos will eliminate Man City from the competition.
