Kabiru Turaki, factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has rallied chieftains of the party, including Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, governors of Oyo and Bauchi respectively, as well as the party’s 37 state chairmen, to drive the rollout of its e-registration exercise.
In a statement on Sunday, Ini Ememobong, the national
publicity secretary of the Turaki-led PDP, had said the party’s digital
membership registration exercise would begin today and run for three weeks
across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
On Monday, Turaki held a virtual meeting with members of the
PDP national working committee, including the governors and state chairmen, to
formally kick-off the e-registration programme.
In a statement shared via X, he described the meeting as a
strategic step to strengthen internal structures and modernise the party’s
membership database.
He said the session focused on the modalities for the
upcoming e-registration process and the role of each state chapter in ensuring
its success.
“I emphasised that this exercise is not just a routine
administrative update, but a strategic step towards strengthening our internal
structures, enhancing transparency, and modernising our membership database
across the country,” the PDP national chairman stated.
Turaki explained that the initiative goes beyond routine
administrative updates, noting that it is designed to enhance transparency,
improve coordination and reposition the party’s internal systems through a
modern, digitally driven membership framework.
During the meeting, he said the PDP leaders reviewed the
operational framework for the e-registration, including timelines, coordination
mechanisms, reporting channels, and responsibilities at state and local
government levels.
“I stressed the importance of early preparation, stakeholder
sensitisation, and proper supervision to avoid bottlenecks and ensure a
seamless rollout,” the statement added.
Turaki said he also encouraged the chairmen and NWC members
to take full ownership of the process, working closely with state executives
and technical teams to guarantee inclusiveness, credibility, and efficiency.
“Our collective commitment will determine the smoothness and
overall success of this initiative,” he said.
According to him, the interaction was frank and
solution-driven, with contributions from across the states, the NWC, and the
governors.
He added that it was reassuring to witness the shared
resolve and dedication of PDP leaders towards repositioning the party for
greater effectiveness.
“Together, we remain focused and united in building a
stronger and more digitally responsive PDP,” the statement added.
