President Bola Tinubu has elevated Ibrahim Masari from the role of Senior Special Assistant to that of Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the President’s
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in an official
statement.
According to Onanuga, Masari will now serve alongside Yau
Darazo, who was appointed to the same advisory position by Tinubu in July 2023.
“As a special adviser, Masari will work alongside Alhaji Yau
Darazo, whom Tinubu appointed in July 2023,” Onanuga revealed.
Masari, regarded as a trusted associate of the President,
initially assumed the role of Senior Special Assistant in 2023 with similar
responsibilities.
The Katsina-born politician previously held the position of
welfare secretary of the All Progressives Congress during the leadership of
former national chairman Adams Oshiomhole.
Within the presidential structure, the office of Special
Adviser ranks higher than that of Senior Special Assistant.
Individuals in this role generally take on broader strategic
duties and often maintain closer access to the President.
Masari has long been considered an influential member of
Tinubu’s political network and has played notable roles in the party’s
operations, particularly across the North-West region.
His new appointment does not require confirmation by the
Senate, as presidential aides are appointed directly by the President and serve
at his discretion.
