The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has distributed 47,280 bags of rice to constituents in Kano North Senatorial District as part of his annual support initiative during the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Sallah (Eid-el-Fitr) celebrations.
The distribution, flagged off on Tuesday at Azman Rice Company in the Mariri area of Kano through his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, and other aides, targets 47,280 households one bag per household in the first phase across the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kano North Senatorial District.
According to a statement from Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, the gesture prioritizes grassroots communities, with other segments of society to benefit in subsequent phases.
“This Ramadan intervention by the Deputy President of the Senate is aimed at supporting communities and fulfilling the religious obligation of feeding people during the holy month,” Mudashir said.
He noted that Senator Barau has maintained this annual tradition to aid his constituents during Ramadan and Sallah, emphasizing grassroots development and religious duties of charity and support for the needy.
Beneficiaries have praised the senator as “a leader who consistently supports the masses across various sectors of human development.”
The initiative comes amid broader efforts in Kano State to ease economic pressures during Ramadan, aligning with religious practices of generosity and community welfare ahead of Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
