Remi Tinubu calls for compassion, love during sermon in UK palace

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called for a world governed by compassion and love, stressing that enduring global challenges require humane values alongside policies and strategies.

She made the call during a church service at Lambeth Palace in London, on the sidelines of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two-day State Visit to the United Kingdom.

Lambeth Palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, hosted the First Lady as part of her engagements during the visit.

A statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, said the First Lady was received by the Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion Worldwide, Bishop Anthony Poggo.

In a brief reflection at the service, Senator Tinubu noted that while governments across the world continue to evolve strategies to address complex challenges, the role of compassion and love remains indispensable.

She said navigating contemporary global issues requires not only sound policies but also actions rooted in empathy and shared humanity.

The First Lady also led special prayers for the British royal family and leaders across the world, seeking divine guidance in their responsibilities.

Following the service, she was taken on a short tour of sections of the historic palace and later met with officials and colleagues from the Anglican Communion Office and the Anglican Alliance, which operates across 42 Anglican churches worldwide.

Senator Tinubu also signed the visitors’ register during the visit.

The engagement formed part of activities lined up for Nigeria’s First Family during the just concluded State Visit, which was focused on strengthening diplomatic, cultural and bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
