Ramadan: Natasha Distributes Food Items to Kogi Constituents

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has distributed food items to constituents across the district to provide relief amid economic challenges during the holy month of Ramadan and the Lenten season.

The initiative, aimed at supporting both Muslim and Christian stakeholders, included the distribution of rice to various groups, including clerics, market women, women’s associations, youths, and civil society organisations throughout Kogi Central.

The senator was represented at the event by her legislative aide, Alhaji Dr Salami, while her Special Assistant on Media, Mike Idoko, issued a statement detailing the outreach. In the statement, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed deep concern for the well-being of her people, stating: “This initiative is born out of my deep concern for the well-being of our people.

At a time like this, leadership must be compassionate and responsive to the realities faced by families across our communities.”She further emphasized unity and mutual support, saying: “We must continue to support one another regardless of religious or social differences. Whether Muslim or Christian, we are one people, and our collective strength lies in unity and mutual care.”

Highlighting her commitment beyond legislation, she added: “I remain committed not only to lawmaking but also to ensuring that the impact of governance is felt directly by the people. This is about service, empathy, and standing with my constituents at all times.”

Beneficiaries, including representatives from market women’s groups, described the support as timely and impactful, noting it would help sustain households and small-scale traders during the fasting periods amid rising living costs and inflationary pressures.

The distribution reflects a broader trend among Nigerian federal lawmakers to engage in constituency-based humanitarian efforts during religious observances, helping to alleviate hardship for families in their districts.
