Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’ Party (NNPP), on Sunday hosted Peter Obi, 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP); Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo; and Seriake Dickson, senator representing Bayelsa west, at his residence in Kano.
Kwankwaso shared pictures from the event across his social
media platforms.
“Delighted to host Their Excellencies, Peter Obi, Seyi
Makinde, and Seriake Dickson at my Kano residence for this joyful Sallah
celebration. Wishing everyone peace, blessings, and prosperity,” Kwankwaso
wrote on Facebook.
There have been speculations that Kwankwaso, former governor
of Kano, is considering joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of
2027.
Punch reported that the former governor is delaying his
defection to the ADC due to uncertainty over whether Obi will secure the
party’s presidential ticket.
There have been reports of proposed alliance between Obi and
Kwankwaso for a joint 2027 presidential ticket on the ADC platform
Recently, Dickson left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to
join the newly formed Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
There have also been talks that the governor of Oyo state
may quit the PDP amid the leadership crisis rocking the opposition party.
In February, Makinde and former Vice-President Atiku
Abubakar held separate and joint discussions with ex-military president Ibrahim
Babangida at his residence in Minna, Niger state.
