Otti Approves 100 Hectares for Air Force Training Base in Abia


Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved 100 hectares of land within the Abia Airport Project site for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to establish a training base.


The approval, granted on Tuesday during a meeting with a delegation from the NAF Ground Training Command led by Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Kehinde, doubles the initial 50 hectares requested by the Air Force. 


It supports the establishment of a Special Forces Training Centre and related facilities.Governor Otti assured the delegation: “You can take it for granted that you have at least 100 hectares of land in that place.” 


He commended the NAF for approving the base in Abia and pledged to expedite the Certificate of Occupancy within 30 days.Otti also noted that the Abia Airport runway, a joint Federal and State project, would soon be ready. 


He committed to ensuring the contractor renovating the Air Force office in the state completes the work before the end of April for handover to the Chief of Air Staff.


The governor urged continued collaboration in combating criminality, highlighting Abia's strong security performance in the Southeast.


Air Vice Marshal Kehinde praised the state's security efforts, describing them as impressive and ahead of other states in the region.


This development strengthens security cooperation between the Abia State Government and the Nigerian Air Force while advancing infrastructure at the proposed airport site.
