Osun Police Arrest 14 More Suspects in Connection with Attack on Officers in Erin-Osun

The Osun State Police Command has arrested 14 additional suspects linked to the recent attack on police officers in the Erin-Osun and Ilobu communities, as investigations continue.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests were made through sustained, intelligence-led operations. This brings the total number of suspects detained in connection with the incident to 18.

The suspects had reportedly gone into hiding following the attack but were tracked down and apprehended by operatives, acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan.

Police also recovered weapons believed to be connected to the incident, including a single-barreled gun, a live cartridge, and a cutlass.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice, stating that all suspects will be prosecuted in line with the law while upholding human rights standards.

The incident stems from a long-standing boundary and land ownership dispute between the Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities, which escalated into violence involving attacks on police officers deployed to maintain peace.

Some of those arrested include community leaders and residents from both areas.
