Over 2,000 commercial motorcycle operators across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State on Tuesday declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The riders, under the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), also pledged to work for a landslide victory for the President in the Sunshine State.
Speaking at the endorsement ceremony held at the office of the Asiwaju Mandate Group in Akure, the state chairman of ACOMORAN, Mr Akinlolu Olumonrin, said the decision followed a thorough assessment of Tinubu’s performance nationwide.
“We have looked into everything he has done in Nigeria and discovered he is the only person who can continue the job so that the programme will not stop,” he said.
Olumonrin added that the association had struggled to gain visibility in Ondo State despite writing letters and even suing the government, but they believe going through the President would help achieve their goals.
“That is why we decided to fully support Tinubu for the second time in Nigeria,” he stated.He urged members to remain law-abiding and disciplined to protect the reputation of the association and maintain public trust.
The ACOMORAN chairman, however, appealed to the Federal Government to address the rising cost of fuel and the prevailing economic hardship, noting that transport operators have been among the worst hit.
“We believe there is hope and that things will improve very soon, but we want the President to help find solutions to the hike in prices,” he added.
In his remarks, the Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the endorsement by the commercial motorcyclists would further strengthen the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.
He commended the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his interventions, noting that various groups have continued to align with the party in recent months.
