NCS Auctions 66,500 Litres of Seized Petrol in Kebbi

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has auctioned 66,500 litres of petrol seized in Kebbi State. The auction, conducted by the Kebbi Area Command of the NCS, involved petroleum products confiscated from suspected smugglers operating along the Nigeria-Niger border.

According to NCS officials, the seized petrol was intercepted in various operations aimed at curbing the smuggling of petroleum products out of the country.

The auction is part of the Service’s standard procedure for disposing of perishable seized items to prevent waste while generating revenue for the government.

Speaking after the exercise, the Comptroller of the Kebbi Area Command stated that the NCS remains committed to enforcing anti-smuggling laws and protecting the nation’s economy.

He warned smugglers to desist from the illegal trade, noting that the Command would sustain aggressive patrols and intelligence-driven operations to tackle cross-border smuggling activities.

The successful auction of the 66,500 litres of petrol is expected to serve as a deterrent to would-be smugglers while contributing to government coffers.

This development comes amid ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Customs Service to stem the tide of fuel smuggling, especially in border states like Kebbi, which shares boundaries with the Niger Republic.

Further auctions of other seized items are expected in the coming weeks.
