In a swift and coordinated response, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has eliminated more than 50 suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists through precision airstrikes targeting their escape routes following an unsuccessful attack on military positions in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to military sources, the insurgents launched a surprise coordinated assault around 7:30 p.m. on March 3, 2026, aiming to overrun artillery positions in Ngoshe—a community situated approximately 12 km from Pulka and 31 km from Gwoza town.
Ground troops mounted an effective defense but executed a tactical withdrawal under heavy fire to safeguard personnel and equipment while awaiting reinforcements. The attackers employed hit-and-withdraw tactics, retreating before full reinforcement arrived and securing the area.
Additional forces were rapidly deployed, and surveillance assets closely monitored the fleeing terrorists along their designated withdrawal paths in the Ngoshe–Pulka corridor.Real-time intelligence from the ground prompted the scrambling of surveillance aircraft, which located the terrorists moving in two distinct clusters.
Precision strikes were then carried out on the confirmed targets and their movement trails. Subsequent battle damage assessments confirmed that over 50 terrorists were neutralized across the two strike engagements.
This effective air-ground integration under Operation Hadin Kai prevented the insurgents from escaping into nearby forested areas, decisively disrupting their logistics and mobility in the region.Clearance and area domination operations continue to prevent any potential regrouping by remaining elements.
The Ngoshe–Gwoza axis has long been a volatile hotspot, with Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants exploiting the challenging terrain and proximity to cross-border forest zones for intermittent attacks.Military authorities emphasized that Operation Hadin Kai will maintain relentless offensive pressure, sending a clear warning: any assault on Nigerian positions will trigger overwhelming, coordinated retaliation.
Officials reaffirmed the commitment to safeguarding civilian lives in Gwoza and neighboring communities, advancing resettlement initiatives, and building on recent successes in the counter-insurgency efforts across Borno State.
