The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to hold a major global media briefing on Thursday as part of final preparations for its 2026 National Convention, scheduled for March 27–28 in Abuja.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who serves as Co-Chairman of the convention’s Media and Publicity Committee, announced the world press conference during a committee meeting on Tuesday.
The briefing aims to unveil the party’s detailed plans, expectations, logistics, and broadcast strategies for the high-profile event.
According to a statement issued by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, the press conference will provide Nigerians and the international community with clear insights into the APC’s readiness and the significance of the convention.
“As part of what we need to do, a major press conference will be held on Thursday to unveil the expectations of the party to Nigerians,” Idris said.
He stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and professional collaboration among committee members to ensure effective communication and positive projection of the party’s democratic processes.
The 2026 APC National Convention is viewed as a key milestone for the ruling party. It is expected to demonstrate internal unity, strengthen democratic credentials, and reaffirm its commitment to national progress. Idris has previously described the gathering as an opportunity to showcase the APC’s shared vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria.
The Media and Publicity Committee, co-chaired by Idris and other senior members including Arabinrin Aderonke, has been working assiduously to coordinate comprehensive media coverage and public engagement for the event.
This global media briefing on Thursday comes just days before the convention proper, signaling that the party is putting the finishing touches on its arrangements and is eager to engage transparently with local and international journalists.
The APC National Convention is anticipated to address critical party matters, including leadership positions and strategic direction, ahead of future political engagements.
