Kano Executive Council Approves ₦310 Billion for Infrastructure, Development Projects


The Kano State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a total of ₦310,266,203,460 for various projects focused on infrastructure upgrades, education, healthcare, rural development, housing, and social welfare.


Announcing the decisions after the 38th council meeting at Government House, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs Abdullahi Ibrahim Waiya outlined major allocations across key sectors:


Education — Funding for UTME forms (₦238m), school rehabilitations (e.g., ₦179.6m for Government Girls Secondary School Hotoro South and ₦395.7m for schools in Bagwai LGA), boarding school feeding and supplies (over ₦1.78b combined), and textbook distribution (₦264m). 

Works and Infrastructure — Renovations at the Kano State Fire Service Headquarters (₦241.3m), mosque completion (₦81m), paediatric hospital works (₦122m), road maintenance and construction (several hundred million naira), ₦13.2 billion for 2026 Constituency Projects, and ministry renovations (₦483.6m). 

Rural and Community Development — Multiple feeder road projects (e.g., ₦120m and ₦368m in Gezawa LGA, over ₦1b across other LGAs), plus ₦1.5 billion for 2026 Special Intervention Projects.

Health — Procurement of four dialysis machines (₦89.7m) and dental equipment (₦165.6m).

Housing and Others — ₦113.19 billion for a 480-unit Mass Housing Scheme (“Gida Gida Mega City”) at Rijiyar Gwan-Gwan, ₦1 billion for an Emergency Operations Management Centre, ₦1.7 billion in compensation for transmission line-affected households, ₦608m to clear electricity bills for water plants, ₦1.34 billion for the 2026 Ramadan Feeding Programme, ₦210m for 10 million tree seedlings, and ₦171m for youth empowerment in livestock feeds milling.
