Iyabo Ojo has addressed claims by Olanrewaju Omiyinka, the actor popularly known as Baba Ijesha, that she once entrusted him with the care of her children Festus and Priscilla.
Baba Ijesha was arraigned on June 24, 2021, on a six-count
charge bordering on indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted
sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.
On July 14, 2022, a Lagos high court sentenced him to 16
years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor. However, the sentence was to
run concurrently, meaning he spent approximately five years behind bars.
He was released in November 2025 after completing his jail
term.
In a recent interview with Biola Bayo, Baba Ijesha insisted
that comedian Princess had set him up with the victim.
He also referenced that Iyabo Ojo’s children were once
entrusted to his care when they were young, claiming he monitored them while
the actress was away.
“When they told me about Iyabo Ojo, I told the person that
she is my product. I cannot wish her bad. I do not want women to have problems.
But what Iyabo turned into today, I do not understand,” he said.
“I told my apprentice to watch over them while I checked
their mum. When I got to the place, I met a crowd, so I knew it was not a place
you could just get what you wanted and go home immediately.”
Reacting to the interview, Ojo dismissed Baba Ijesha’s
claims of fostering her children as “false and misleading”.
She stated that the suggestion she would have run errands
alone was improbable, as she had multiple staff members.
She also emphasised that she regarded him solely as a senior
colleague, nothing more.
“Honestly I have no problem with you, Baba Ijesha telling
your side of the story. But take this as a notice to CEASE AND DESIST from
using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly,” she wrote.
“My kids have always had nannies or my late mum with them,
and they were never alone.
“At my former business place in do Ilupeju, I had multiple
staff, an including stylists, sales reps, and apprentices, so it’s unlikely l’d
be the one running errands. I can send a worker if needed. I’m okay with you
sharing your story, but don’t mislead the public with false claims about my
kids.
“You were a senior colleague no more to it; however, that 14-year-old girl was a minor, and sexual assault is never okay. It is a crime. You should show some remorse.”
Ojo threatened legal action if Baba Ijesha continued to
mention her children’s names.
“The court found you guilty based on evidence, so please
don’t drag my kids into this. Stop mentioning their names else I would direct
my counsel to serve you appropriate papers,” she added.
