Iranian state television reported on Wednesday that Iran has rejected a US-proposed peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing Middle East war, insisting it will only accept ceasefire terms dictated by Tehran.
Citing an unidentified senior official, Press TV (Iran’s English-language broadcaster) stated: “Iran has responded negatively to an American proposal aimed at ending the ongoing imposed war.”
The rejection comes amid reports of backchannel diplomacy and follows US President Donald Trump’s recent claims of “productive discussions” with Iranian leaders, assertions that Tehran has repeatedly denied.
Iranian officials have maintained there have been no direct or indirect negotiations with the United States.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman has also warned against the US and Israel presenting any perceived retreat as an “agreement.”
The development signals that Iran intends to continue its military posture until it can impose its own conditions for ending the conflict, dealing a blow to current US efforts to broker peace.
No immediate comment was available from the US State Department or White House on Iran’s latest position.
