Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Patrick Moro, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that he will remain in the party despite political pressures and shifting alliances.
Moro made the declaration during a massive decamping
ceremony held at the Upu Open Field in Ewulo, Otukpo Local Government Area of
Benue State, where members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), African
Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP) and other political parties
defected to the PDP.
“I told you from the beginning that I will not leave PDP and
I will be here till tomorrow,” the senator said while addressing the large
crowd that gathered at the event.
Earlier, before the formal decamping ceremony, APC
stakeholders from Ohimini Local Government Area, led by Adaji Elijah, paid a
courtesy visit to the senator and expressed their readiness to work for his
victory in 2027.
Elijah said many of them had lost confidence in the ruling
APC, accusing the party of failing to adequately protect lives and property. He
also pointed to internal divisions within the APC in Benue State as one of the
reasons for their decision to join the PDP.
According to him, the party in the state had become
factionalised, noting that their group aligns with the camp of former governor
George Akume with Austin Agada recognised as the state chairman.
Speaking during the gathering, a number of PDP leaders and
stakeholders expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the
2027 elections.
Among those who spoke were the Otukpo Local Government PDP
Chairman, Hon. Ochapa Godwin, House of Representatives aspirant for
Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, Hon. Oche Adaji, Hon. Joseph Godwin
(popularly known as G12), Hon. Emmanuel Udeh; Hon. Egli Ahubi, Hon. Alice
Albert, the Benue State PDP Women Leader, Hon. George Alli, among others.
