Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State will accompany President Bola Tinubu on a historic two-day state visit to the United Kingdom, scheduled for March 18 and 19, 2026.
He is the only governor included in the presidential delegation.President Tinubu, joined by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, is set to depart Abuja on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, for the visit.
IsKing Charles III will host the president, the first lady, and the entourage at Windsor Castle during the stay.
This marks the first full state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities in areas such as trade, investment, immigration, and cultural exchange.
A statement from Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to Governor Lawal, highlighted the significance of the governor's participation: it will provide networking opportunities and open prospects for investment and economic benefits for Zamfara State.
The delegation includes key figures such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Culture Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Communications Bosun.
Tijani, Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Mohammed Mohammed.
