Former Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Otunba Nick Ovuakporie, has withdrawn his ambition to contest the Delta South Senatorial seat and declared support for President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Ovuakporie, who was earlier considered a strong contender for the Senate position in Delta South, announced the decision to promote party unity and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda at both national and state levels.
The move is part of ongoing realignments within the Delta APC as political activities build up toward the 2027 general elections.
By stepping aside from his senatorial bid, Ovuakporie is prioritising collective party interests over personal ambition.
His endorsement of President Tinubu is expected to strengthen the APC’s push for broader acceptance in the PDP-dominated Delta State.
Similarly, his backing for Governor Oborevwori signals a pragmatic approach to political collaboration across party lines in the state.
A seasoned politician with deep roots in Delta politics, Ovuakporie’s decision is likely to influence other stakeholders, especially in Delta South, where calculations for 2027 are intensifying.
The announcement has been viewed positively by some APC members, who see it as a strategic step toward building a more cohesive front capable of mounting a serious challenge in the oil-rich state.
As realignments continue, Ovuakporie’s action adds momentum to the growing trend of cross-party endorsements and unity efforts in Delta State politics ahead of the next election cycle.
