Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Wale Edun, has met with a senior IMF Executive Director Group III (Economic Community of West African States ) Constituency, Dr. Quattara Wautabouna, for a courtesy visit in Abuja, to discuss strengthening economic collaboration within the ECOWAS region.
In a post obtained from the Ministry of Finance’s X handle on Friday, the meeting focused on deepening collaboration between Nigeria and the IMF within the ECOWAS region, with an emphasis on promoting regional economic stability, policy coordination, and shared growth objectives.
Speaking during the visit, Edun emphasised the importance of sustained engagement with international financial institutions.
Wautabouna highlighted the IMF’s commitment to strengthening partnerships within its Africa Group III constituency, which includes ECOWAS member states. He stressed that coordinated economic policies and regional cooperation are essential to achieving sustainable growth and resilience.
The discussions also explored strategies for enhancing economic governance, improving fiscal frameworks, and supporting reforms that foster inclusive growth across West Africa.
The meeting reflects Nigeria’s proactive role in regional economic leadership and underscores the government’s commitment to working closely with multilateral partners to strengthen economic stability and drive shared prosperity within ECOWAS
