Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Nyesom Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mao Ohuabunwa, has said that the ongoing electronic registration of members (e-registration) is a major step in the right direction.
Ohuabunwa made this remark at the 107th meeting of the
National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, stating that it reflects their
commitment to modernization, transparency, and credibility in the management of
the party.
He said that a credible membership register is the
foundation of any serious political organization, noting that it strengthens
internal democracy, enhances planning, and builds confidence among members and
stakeholders.
The BoT chairman, therefore, called on all members across
the federation to embrace the process and ensure its success.
“As we move forward, the decisions we take today will shape
not only the outcome of our forthcoming National Convention but also the future
direction of our party.
“It is therefore important that we approach all matters
before us with unity of purpose and a spirit of give and take,” he said.
Speaking on the issue of zoning, which he said will soon be
presented before the body by the Zoning Committee, Ohuabunwa urged members to
receive the recommendations of the committee with an open mind, guided by
equity, justice, and the overriding interest of unity.
According to him, no arrangement is perfect, stressing that
what is most important is their collective willingness to accommodate one
another for the greater good of the party.
