Armed bandits, reportedly disguised in women’s hijabs, attacked Mallamawar Yari village in Gawakuke ward of Rabah Local Government Area in Sokoto State on Saturday night, leaving several residents dead and others abducted.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on Sunday by
security analyst Bakatsine on X.
According to the post, the bandits attacked the village at
night and carried out a massive assault while they were dressed in women’s
hijabs, which allegedly helped them move around without raising suspicion.
During the attack, several residents were killed, while many
others were abducted and taken to an unknown destination.
Bakatsine noted that the situation has raised concerns among
residents, as attacks continue to occur in different communities across the
state.
“Last night, armed bandits reportedly disguised in women’s
hijabs attacked Mallamawar Yari village in Gawakuke ward, Rabah LGA, Sokoto
State. Several residents were killed and many others abducted during the
attack.
“With attacks continuing across communities in Sokoto State,
the question remains; what concrete measures are being taken to halt the
growing wave of insecurity in the state?,” Bakatsine wrote.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the
incident at the time of filing this report.
