Appeal Court Judgment: Natasha Urges PDP Leaders to Close Ranks Ahead of 2027

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has called on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and members to prioritise reconciliation and unity following the recent Court of Appeal judgment on the party’s national convention.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the senator described the ruling as a chance for the PDP to move beyond internal wrangling and focus on rebuilding ahead of the 2027 elections.

She warned that continued litigation and factional disputes could undermine the party’s strength and limit its ability to offer a credible platform for candidates seeking elective positions nationwide.

“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a party that respects the rule of law, it is time to turn the page on litigation and focus on reconciliation and rebuilding,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

The lawmaker expressed concern that prolonged leadership conflicts could harm grassroots members and aspiring candidates vying for roles in state assemblies, the House of Representatives, the Senate, governorships, and the presidency.“

Our members across the country, those preparing to contest various elective offices must not become victims of prolonged disagreements among leaders,” she emphasised.

She urged party stakeholders to show maturity and statesmanship by placing the PDP’s collective future above personal interests.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also stressed the importance of holding an inclusive, transparent national convention that fully complies with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines to restore internal trust and strengthen the party’s democratic standing.

“Nigerians are watching, and this is the moment for the PDP to demonstrate that it remains united, inclusive, and ready to provide national leadership,” she added.

The senator reaffirmed her dedication to the party’s unity and progress, encouraging members nationwide to stay hopeful and actively contribute to efforts to reposition the PDP for 2027.
