Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have confirmed that nominees for the 2026 edition will be revealed on Sunday, March 29.
The announcement was made via the awards’ official social media platforms, with Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo set to host the live nominee reveal.
“The spotlight is on… and it’s time to get to know your nominees. Watch the #AMVCA12 Nominee Announcement LIVE |March 29 | 7 PM WAT on #AfricaMagic channels,” the organisers stated.
The AMVCA is known to celebrate outstanding achievements in African film and television.
Entries for the 12th edition opened on January 11 and closed on February 15, 2026. Eligible works were required to have been publicly exhibited between January 1 and December 31, 2025, including releases in cinemas, on television, or via streaming platforms.
This year’s edition will feature 32 categories, comprising 18 jury-decided awards and 11 audience-voted categories, alongside special recognitions such as Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer honours.
New additions to the awards include categories for Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa, expanding the scope of regional representation.
The main awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in May 2026 in Lagos.
