The Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have issued a stern warning to Bolaji Abdullahi, demanding that he immediately cease issuing press statements or making public declarations in the name of the party.
In a joint statement signed by National Chairman Nafi’u Bala Gombe and BoT Secretary Rufus Ikanmi on Sunday, the party leadership declared that any continued unauthorised use of the ADC’s name, logo, or platform would lead to legal proceedings.
The statement emphasised that if Abdullahi wishes to join the ADC, he must follow the standard membership procedure by registering at his political ward in Kwara State.
The party further cautioned financial institutions, including all Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria, against honouring any transactions involving individuals claiming to represent the ADC without proper authorisation.
“Any further dealings, including lending, withdrawal, or transfer of funds from the party’s accounts by such unauthorised persons, will be considered financial misconduct and economic sabotage,” the statement read.
It added that the ADC would take all necessary measures to safeguard its identity, integrity, and financial interests, and would not hesitate to pursue legal remedies if the alleged unauthorised activities persist.
The leadership reiterated that the African Democratic Congress remains open to all Nigerians, with membership accessible only through the established registration process at the ward level.
The warning comes amid growing internal tensions and defections within the ADC, as the party has recently attracted several high-profile politicians from other parties, particularly the PDP, positioning itself as a potential platform for opposition consolidation ahead of future elections.
Related developments include the suspension of the FCT ADC chairman and allies over an escalating party crisis, as well as reports of suspected APC youths disrupting an ADC event in Cross River State.
The ADC has also adopted a consensus model for its upcoming congresses in an effort to manage internal processes smoothly.
No immediate response has been reported from Bolaji Abdullahi or his associates regarding the party’s directive.
