The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Omale Sule, has accused FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe of receiving N100 million from the party’s national leadership ahead of the recent Area Councils elections in the Federal Capital Territory, alleging that the funds delivered no visible benefit to the local chapter.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Friday, March 13, Sule claimed the money vanished without supporting the party’s grassroots efforts during the polls.
“We heard that N100 million was given to Senator Ireti Kingibe from ADC National just before the FCT local government election, but we never saw anything from her,” he said.
Sule also criticized the senator for allegedly bypassing the official party structure, failing to attend meetings, or coordinating with local and state leaders.
“The worst of all is that she never works with the party structure,” Sule added. “You can create your own structure outside the party’s own. Everybody, even the president of this country today has a Ward where he comes from… But in our own case here, the only Senator we have that is our leader here in FCT is not attending meeting. She doesn’t even liaise with the state chairmen.”
The allegations intensify existing internal friction within the ADC’s FCT chapter. The party has previously distanced itself from reports of a ward-level suspension of Kingibe over alleged anti-party conduct, while a separate suit has been filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to bar her from parading as a member, citing breaches of the party constitution and lack of proper engagement.
Neither Senator Kingibe nor the ADC national leadership has issued an immediate response or denial to the N100 million claim raised by Sule.
