2027: You’ll Buy Fuel N5,000 Per Liter if Tinubu Returns – Isaac Fayose Warns

Nigerian businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has issued a strong warning to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections, cautioning that re-electing President Bola Tinubu could lead to petrol prices skyrocketing to as high as ₦5,000 per litre.

In a recent statement, Fayose urged citizens to vote massively against the current administration, saying: “These people will not come back. Let our votes come in bulk or else you will buy fuel at N5,000 per litre.”

His comment comes amid ongoing public frustration over rising fuel costs. As of March 2026, petrol prices in Nigeria have climbed significantly, with reports indicating pump prices ranging from about ₦1,130 to ₦1,350 per litre across different locations and marketers a sharp increase in recent weeks that has triggered widespread complaints about higher transportation and food costs.

Fayose has previously criticized the Tinubu government’s handling of the fuel sector, questioning billions reportedly spent on refineries that remain largely non-functional and rejecting excuses that blame external factors like global events or foreign countries for the hikes.

He has argued that Nigeria, as an oil-producing nation, should not face such scarcity and price volatility. The outspoken personality linked the warning to broader issues of accountability, transparency, and governance, suggesting that without strong public pushback and voter turnout, the situation could worsen dramatically.

This prediction has sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians already grappling with the ripple effects of current fuel prices on daily living expenses.
