A former presidential spokesman, Bashir Ahmad has raised concerns that the planned defection of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress, would have negative impacts on the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Kwankwaso is reportedly set to join the ADC on Monday as
opposition figures realign against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Reacting to Kwankwaso’s move, Bashir in a post on his
official X handle lamented the negative impacts it may have on the ruling
party.
Bashir, however, said the challenge is not insurmountable,
stating that if the ruling party puts its affairs in proper order, it may
emerge victorious in the next election.
He wrote, “Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s defection to the other
side may have an impact on our overall performance in Kano. However, this is
not insurmountable.
“As long as we keep our house intact and put our affairs in
proper order, victory is still very much within our reach”.
