2027: APC will deliver 10m votes for Tinubu in Southwest – Senate Leader, Bamidele

Opeyemi Bamidele, Leader of the Senate, has revealed that the All Progressives Congress has set a target of securing no fewer than 10 million votes from the South-West for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

He made the remarks on Monday in Ado Ekiti during the inauguration of the 57-member governorship campaign council set up to support the re-election bid of Biodun Oyebanji.

The disclosure was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Bamidele’s Directorate of Media and Public Affairs.

Bamidele, who also serves as Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, explained that the party plans to reach the target through extensive voter mobilisation and increased participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

According to the Senate leader, the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State will serve as a referendum on the performance of the incumbent governor.

He also predicted that the poll would be “a walkover” for the APC, citing what he described as significant accomplishments under the Oyebanji administration.

“the June 20 election will be a referendum to affirm and confirm the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti State.

“As a party of conviction and vision, we have already set a target ahead of the 2027 elections. We have designed a mobilisation plan to deliver at least 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the six states of the South-west alone,” Bamidele said.

He called on party leaders and members to step up mobilisation efforts by urging residents to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.

“With the future elections drawing closer by the day, we need to mobilise our members, neighbours and relations not just to register as new voters, but also collect their permanent voter cards so that they can exercise suffrage in our support in the future elections,” he said.
