The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning to the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, threatening immediate dismissal if heaps of refuse along the Orozo–Apo–Karshi road corridor are not completely cleared by Monday.
Wike delivered the ultimatum during an on-site inspection of ongoing road projects in satellite towns, including Karu, Bwari, Kubwa, and the Apo-Karshi corridor, on Friday, February 6, 2026.
The minister expressed deep displeasure upon encountering large, unsightly refuse dumps along the Orozo–Karshi stretch, describing the situation as embarrassing and unacceptable in areas now experiencing significant development.
Addressing the STDD coordinator directly on the spot, Wike stated: “If I see that refuse from Orozo down to Apo-Karshi by Monday or Tuesday, your job will be terminated. Whatever you can do, make sure this is handled.”
He emphasized that failure in refuse management or operational lapses in satellite towns such as Karshi or Bwari would no longer be tolerated, with accountable officials facing decisive consequences.
The warning forms part of Wike's broader push for improved sanitation, accountability, and accelerated infrastructure delivery in the FCT's satellite towns.
The inspection also covered progress on key road projects, including the long-delayed Apo-Karshi road, where the minister has previously terminated contracts due to non-performance and re-awarded them to ensure timely completion.
Residents and observers have welcomed the minister's tough stance, viewing it as a signal of the administration's commitment to cleaner environments and better service delivery amid ongoing urban expansion in the FCT suburbs.
The deadline set is Monday, February 9, 2026 with strict enforcement promised.
