The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cancelled 485 land documents issued by Area Councils in Abuja, following a rigorous verification exercise that revealed widespread irregularities, including confirmed cases of forgery.
The decision, announced through an official public notice from the Federal Capital Territory Administration's (FCTA) Departments of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS), targets applications submitted for regularization that failed to meet authenticity standards.
According to the notice, the minister approved the nullification of these documents after they "failed the necessary official checks for genuineness and have been confirmed to be fake" in several instances.
The affected files, which span various layouts in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, and Kuje Area Councils, have been permanently removed from the FCTA’s regularization database.
The move shows the FCTA's ongoing crackdown on fraudulent land practices in the territory. Officials emphasized that the cancellations serve as a warning to applicants and the public, urging greater compliance with verification processes to prevent land fraud.Affected individuals have been advised to take note of the development, as the nullified documents no longer hold any validity for land claims or regularization purposes.
This action aligns with broader efforts under Minister Wike's leadership to restore integrity to land administration in the FCT and curb illegal allocations and forgeries that have plagued the sector.
