The Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, is set to formally open a newly completed motor park named after President Bola Tinubu in Ebute Metta, Lagos.
The facility, officially known as the Lagos State Council
Motor Park, also houses the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Motor Park and a
dedicated Emergency Unit for NURTW members. It is located along Atitebi, Apapa
Road, Ebute Metta.
The opening of the motor park is being led by the Lagos
NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, while the
facility will be commissioned by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The development was made public by the Governor’s Senior
Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, in a post shared on X, formerly
known as Twitter.
According to the disclosure, arrangements have been
concluded by the Lagos NURTW leadership for the official opening of the motor
park and emergency facility, which is expected to provide a more organised
transport environment and emergency support for union members operating within
the axis.
The commissioning by Governor Sanwo-Olu will formally bring
the facility into operation and highlights ongoing engagement between the Lagos
State Government and stakeholders in the transport sector.
The naming of the motor park after President Bola Ahmed
Tinubu aligns with a growing trend of public infrastructure projects being
named in his honour since his assumption of office in May 2023.
Further details on the commissioning are expected to be
announced as the official opening approaches.
