Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development Solomon Dalung has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a "dwarf" in Nigeria's political history and arguing that he does not belong in the same league as iconic leaders like Sir Ahmadu Bello (the Sardauna of Sokoto) and Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Dalung, who served in the cabinet of former President Muhammadu Buhari, made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television's Sunday Politics program.
He stressed that true great political leaders build lasting legacies by serving and working for the people, rather than through speculation or self-promotion.
"Tinubu is a dwarf in Nigerian political history, and should not be compared with great leaders because great political leaders make legacies. They serve the people. They work for the people," Dalung said.
He added: "If Tinubu is a great politician as being speculated, let us see this translated into action."
The comments come amid ongoing political discussions in Nigeria, including talks about future elections and opposition strategies.
Dalung's statement reflects a strong view that Tinubu's achievements and impact fall short of the transformative contributions made by historical figures who shaped the nation's political landscape.
