The Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) has directed customers to provide identification details to ensure seamless electricity billing on or before February 20, in line with the Nigeria Tax Act (2025).
In a public notice on Wednesday, the electricity
distribution company (DisCo) warned that customers who fail to submit the
required details may be unable to receive electricity bills.
Ikeja Electric added that this could result in service
suspension after the deadline.
According to the DisCo, the Nigeria Tax Act (2025), which
came into effect on January 1, 2026, mandates that all invoices – including
electricity bills must contain at least one identification detail.
The company said acceptable details include a tax
identification number (TIN), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration
number, or national identification number (NIN).
“To enable us to comply with this statutory requirement and
reflect the information on your January 2026 and subsequent bills, we kindly
request that you provide any one of the above details by completing the form
below,” the statement reads.
“Please note that the deadline for submission is 20th
February, 2026.
“In line with the provisions of the Act, any invoice issued
without this information is considered invalid. Consequently, failure to
provide the required details may prevent us from generating your electricity
bill and could lead to the suspension of service after the stated deadline.”
The DisCo expressed appreciation for customers’ cooperation
and prompt adherence to the directive.
