Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has accused ex-governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, of jailing four of his critics when he was in power.
Sani’s claim followed El-Rufai’s recent comment describing President Bola Tinubu as a tyrant over an attempt to arrest him.
Officials of the Department of State Services, DSS, had attempted to arrest the former governor at the Abuja airport when his returned from Egypt.
El-Rufai, who spoke extensively on the matter during an interview on Friday, accused the government of persecuting the opposition.
Sani, in a post on X, said the former governor is more of a tyrant, stating that from 2015 to 2023, several persons were jailed for criticizing the Kaduna Government on social media.
He identified the alleged victims as Dr John Danfulani, Mal Nasiru Jagaba, Steven Kefas and Segun Onibiyo.
He wrote, “These are some of those arrested and sent to jail for criticizing the Governor of Kaduna State and Kaduna State Government on their social media handles from 2015-2023.
“Their names are Dr John Danfulani, Mal Nasiru Jagaba, Steven Kefas and Segun Onibiyo who served for months in Kaduna Prison. Tell me the meaning of a tyrant. I will post more.”
