Nigerian socialite and entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has publicly defended his decision to back President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming elections, following criticism from some quarters.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the entrepreneur
responded to the backlash, urging Nigerians to set aside ethnic sentiments and
focus on national progress.
He rejected accusations that his political stance amounted
to betraying his tribe, pointing out that political support cuts across ethnic
lines, including backing for Peter Obi from other regions.
“If an Igbo man supporting Tinubu is a betrayal, what is a
Yoruba man supporting Obi? We can only be Nigerians for us to prosper in
Nigeria,” he wrote.
Chief Priest further clarified that his endorsement was
driven by conviction rather than personal interest, stressing that he believes
in Tinubu’s vision and plans for the country.
“Tinubu SERVED! Leaving Tinubu to support any other
candidate is like not looking both ways before crossing the road. Follow who
know road, stay with person who gets structure so that you sef fit tap in,” he
added.
