Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred the prestigious traditional title of Utukpa-Oritse (meaning "The Light of God") of the Warri Kingdom by His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri.
The honor was bestowed during her one-day homecoming visit to Warri in Delta State on Thursday, February 26, 2026, celebrating her maternal Itsekiri roots.
The monarch described her as a source of immense pride for the Itsekiri nation, recognizing her profound contributions and leadership impact on Nigeria as a whole.
The ceremony, rich in Itsekiri cultural splendor, took place at the royal palace and drew high-profile dignitaries.
Among those in attendance were Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and prominent traditional rulers, including His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, who had previously installed the First Lady as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.
The event highlighted the deep cultural heritage of the Itsekiri people and underscored the significance of the First Lady's heritage ties to the kingdom.
