Police Launch 24/7 Anti-Crime Patrols on Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road

The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security measures along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road with the deployment of a dedicated round-the-clock anti-crime patrol operation aimed at stamping out criminal activities on the strategic corridor.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, officially launched the special patrol initiative, deploying four specialised teams to cover the route continuously.

The teams are tasked with providing constant visibility policing, deterring crime, and ensuring swift response to any incident or distress call from road users.

This new deployment comes on top of the existing patrol vehicles that have been stationed at strategic points along the highway since December 2025.

The additional 24/7 teams are expected to significantly boost surveillance, rapid intervention, and overall safety for motorists, commuters, and communities along the Lagos–Calabar corridor.

CP Jimoh emphasised that the operation is part of proactive efforts to prevent armed robbery, kidnapping, vehicle hijacking, and other criminal acts that have occasionally been reported on sections of the expanding coastal highway.

“The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road is a vital economic lifeline connecting multiple states and facilitating massive movement of goods and people. We will not allow criminals to turn it into a danger zone,” the Commissioner stated. He assured members of the public that the patrol teams are well-equipped, highly mobile, and supported by intelligence gathering to maintain law and order.

Motorists and residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately through police emergency lines or the nearest patrol team.

The enhanced security presence is also expected to reassure investors, transporters, and travellers using the route, which has seen increased traffic following ongoing construction and improvements.

This latest measure reflects the Command’s commitment to sustained visibility policing and community safety across major highways and emerging infrastructure corridors in Lagos State.
