The Oyo State Police Command has disrupted a suspected drug stockpiling and distribution network in Ibadan, recovering large quantities of illicit substances from a hideout in the Olomi area of the city.
The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that an apartment along Abanise Street, Academy area, Olomi, was being used to store significant consignments of illegal drugs. The apartment was linked to a suspect identified as Oluwadamilare Adedayo.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, detectives were swiftly deployed to verify the tip-off. A thorough search of the apartment and its surroundings led to the recovery of:

“All recovered items were duly secured as exhibits, effectively disrupting a suspected drug distribution network operating within the area,” Ayanlade said.
The suspect, however, was not present during the raid. On the instruction of Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, intensive surveillance and a coordinated manhunt have been launched to apprehend him, as he is believed to have concealed the drugs prior to police intervention.
CP Haruna expressed gratitude to Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his strategic leadership, and commended the partnership between the Nigeria Police Force, sister security agencies, and community stakeholders, noting that timely intelligence was crucial to the success of the operation.
The Command emphasized that the development underscores its proactive, intelligence-driven policing framework, designed to curb illicit drug circulation—a major catalyst for violent crimes in the state.
