Pastor Chris Okafor, founder and senior pastor of Grace Nation International (also known as Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministry or Liberation City), officially resumed his ministerial duties on Sunday, February 1, 2026, receiving a jubilant and supportive welcome from his congregation in Ojodu Berger, Lagos.
The service, themed "Turning Point Sunday," featured enthusiastic praise, dancing, singing, and signs from members expressing messages of love, restoration, and loyalty, such as affirmations of forgiveness and grace.
Videos show the pastor entering with his wife to cheers, with the choir leading vibrant worship sessions centered on resilience, divine restoration, and faith amid trials. Pastor Okafor addressed the congregation, thanking them for their prayers and support, while reaffirming his commitment to prophetic ministry, integrity, and spiritual leadership.
This return follows a temporary step-aside announced in early January 2026 during a New Year's crossover service. The brief withdrawal came amid intense social media controversy sparked by allegations from Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.
Starting in late 2025 (around November), Ogala publicly accused Pastor Okafor of a years-long secret relationship, reneging on a marriage promise after he reportedly married another woman, emotional manipulation, financial deception, threats, and other serious claims—including links to personal tragedies.
The accusations gained traction online, leading to widespread debate, police invitations for questioning, and public scrutiny.In response, Pastor Okafor publicly apologized during a church service on December 28, 2025, kneeling before the congregation in humility, acknowledging "past mistakes," expressing remorse for anyone he may have offended (including Ogala), and asking for forgiveness and prayers while admitting human imperfection.
He denied key elements of the allegations as false or inconsistent, challenged some claims, and emphasized the need for reflection. He cited God's instruction for the step-aside, combining it with personal rest after his recent marriage, honeymoon, and a period of spiritual retreat to refocus on family and ministry clarity.
